Norwegian Olympic beanie for kids!

 

This is probarbly the most popular beanie in Norway at the moment. The shops has been sold out for baby blue yarn and Norwegian flags.

I was asked if I could make a couple of these beanies in kid sizes. So I wanted to share the pattern with you.  I made the sizes 1-2 y, 3-4 y nd 5-7 y.

I used double thread Baby Merino from Drops, ice blue and red. Hook eu 4

The beanie is crocheted in Half double crochet and the last three rows are single crochet.

Abbreviations:

Hdc: Half double crochet

Sc: Single crochet    

In every round, start by chaining 2. In the end of every round , fasten with a slip stitch in top of your 2 chain.       

1-2 years 

Start with ice blue

1: Magic circle,  10 hdc in ring

2: 2 hdc in every hdc (20 hdc)

3: 2 hdc, hdc * repeat (30 hdc)

4: Hdc in every hdc (30 hdc)

5: 2 hdc, hdc in next two *repeat (40 hdc)

6: 2 hdc, hdc in next three *repeat (50 hdc)

7: Hdc in every hdc (50 hdc)

8: 2 hdc, hdc in next four  *repeat(60 hdc)

9-26: Hdc in every hdc ( 18 rounds)

Change colour to red

27-29: Sc three rounds (60 sc)

Cut yarn and weave in ends

3-4 years

Start with ice blue

1: Magic circle,  10 hdc in ring

2: 2 hdc in every hdc (20 hdc)

3: 2 hdc, hdc * repeat (30 hdc)

4: Hdc in every hdc (30 hdc)

5: 2 hdc, hdc in next two *repeat (40 hdc)

6: 2 hdc, hdc in next three *repeat (50 hdc)

7: 2 hdc, hdc in next four *repeat (60 hdc)

8: Hdc in every hdc (60 hdc)

9: Increase 5 hdc evenly  (65 hdc)

10-28: Hdc 65 (19 rounds)

Change colour to red

29-31: Sc three rounds (65 sc)

Cut yarn and weave in ends

5-7 years

Start with ice blue

1: Magic circle,  10 hdc in ring

2: 2 hdc in every hdc (20 hdc)

3: 2 hdc, hdc * repeat (30 hdc)

4: Hdc in every hdc (30 hdc)

5: 2 hdc, hdc in next two *repeat (40 hdc)

6: 2 hdc, hdc in next three *repeat (50 hdc)

7: 2 hdc, hdc in next four *repeat (60 hdc)

8: Hdc in every hdc (60 hdc)

9: 2 hdc, hdc in next five *repeat (70 hdc)

10-28 : Hdc 70 (20 rounds)

Change to red

30-32 : Sc three rounds

Cut yarn and weave in ends

When I bought the yarn for theese beanies, my eyes kinda went to the left.. There were som gorgeous shades of purple.

So I had to try the beanie in theese colours also! And It came out great. *happyface* Its new owner, my 7 year old, loves it.

When she went to bed, I tried it on, just to see..

This yarn is super soft and quite stretchy. I love beanies, but they are not always practical. I have kids that loves to jump, run and climb.   If their beanies slide down in front of their eyes.. I should probarly just make Batmanbeanies for them 😀
